Work on Montana Ave. intersection ahead of schedule

Work on Montana Ave. intersection is ahead of schedule, requiring a change in traffic patterns earlier than expected.

East and westbound traffic will now be shifted into the northern lanes of Montana between Limerick and Wedgewood after previously being routed to the southern lanes.

Traffic will remain restricted to two lanes in each direction. Businesses in the area are open and the City of El Paso has constructed temporary facilities to ensure motorists have business access during construction.

Contractors are replacing the asphalt intersection of Montana and Lorne with concrete. The work is necessary to accommodate more frequent traffic from Sun Metro buses traveling to the new transit operations facility which is currently under construction north of the intersection.

Motorists who commute in the area during peak times are encouraged to consider alternate routes.
