33-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash on Christmas

A 33-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash on Christmas but police still aren’t sure if he was the driver or an occupant in the truck.

Police say that Mario Baeza, of the 8100 block of Holloway, was inside a white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling south on Loop 375 when it collided with a guardrail at 3:48 a.m.

Baeza was found 50 yards from the truck.

At this time it is unknown if Baeza was ejected from the truck or exited the truck under his own power.

He was transported to Del Sol Medical Center where he died.

Police say it is unknown at this time of Baeza was the driver of the truck.

Police say investigators suspect alcohol as a factor and are awaiting toxicology results.

This is the 66th traffic fatality of 2014 compared to 48 at this same time in 2013. There were a total of 50 traffic related fatalities in 2013, 57 in 2012, and 76 in 2011.
