El Paso Police arrest man in connection with January homicide

El Paso Police have arrested 18-year-old William Estrada in the shooting death of 18-year-old Christian Duran.

Police said Estrada, of the 10700 block of Eagle Pass in El Paso has been arrested and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity/murder in the death of Duran. According to police, at about 7:21 p.m. Jan. 28, 2013, Estrada approached Duran while Duran was seated inside a vehicle, displayed a firearm, and allegedly shot him in the torso. Police have said that they believe the shooting was gang related.

Estrada was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a bond of $250,000. El Paso Police’s Crimes Against Persons unit is asking anyone with information about Duran’s death to call the El Paso Police Department at (915) 832-4400 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at (915) 566-8477.
