El Paso’s DATAMARK selected by State of New Mexico for major document scanning project
DATAMARK, Inc., a leading provider of global business services to Fortune 500 companies and government organizations, announced today it has been selected by the State of New Mexico to begin work on a major document scanning project for the state’s Human Services Department.
Over the course of the project, DATAMARK will transport approximately 100 million Human Services Department paper documents to secure DATAMARK processing facilities for scanning, imaging, indexing and storage. The initial term of the contract is one year, with an option to extend three additional years.
The major back-file scanning project is part of a State of New Mexico initiative to transform a mostly paper-based workflow in the Human Services Department to a digital Electronic Document Management (EDM) system.

To successfully compete for the contract, DATAMARK developed a barcode and software solution to track every file from transport to processing to storage. DATAMARK’s back-file scanning solution also meets the state’s requirements for federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance.
The state’s new EDM system will deliver a number of benefits to New Mexico citizens who use HSD services, including improved case and client tracking, increased accuracy of benefit issuance and simplified case processing. In addition, the EDM system will allow the state to meet requirements for federal funding.
