Second beheaded cat found in central El Paso neighborhood
Cat owners in the Manhattan Heights neighborhood of central El Paso are keeping a close eye on their pets.
The man who found a second dismembered cat on Monday near the intersection of Louisville Avenue and Louisiana Street spoke to ABC-7.
“It gives me the creeps that someone in the neighborhood thinks it’s okay to mutilate animals,” Edward Holland said.
On Sept. 6, another cat was found two blocks east at Louisville Avenue and Piedras Street. Both cats were found without their bodies.
In a letter to ABC-7, the Newman Park Neighborhood Association stated that on Sept. 6 the “head and front paws were carefully placed on the street corner.”
The head and a paw discovered Monday were left in front of a home.
The letter also said El Paso Police Department has assigned a detective to the case and are now investigating.
An orange tabby cat named “Copernicus” is currently missing in the neighborhood. Anyone with information is asked to e-mail Jim Tolbert at diegotolbert@gmail.com.
Neighborhood association members ask that residents be vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477.
