STUDY: The bigger the diamond, the bigger the chance for divorce
They say a diamond is forever, but can it lead to divorce?
New research from emory university suggests the bigger the diamond — the shorter the marriage.
But it’s not just about the big bling.
The study also suggests the more expensive the wedding — the higher the divorce rate.
Researchers surveyed three-thousand adults who have been married at some point.
Here’s what the study found:
Men who spent between two and four grand on rings — were more likely to end up divorced than men who spent less than two grand.
The same thing is true for the women receiving the rings.
The more expensive — the more likely women reported being divorced.
And for those big fat weddings?
Women whose big days cost 20 grand or more — are three point five times more likely to divorce — than women who spent between five and ten thousand dollars.
Men — if you want to use this to get out of buying a more expensive ring — there is one catch.
Those potential grooms who spent less than 5-hundred dollars on a ring — also experienced high rates of divorce.
