Woman offering $1,000 reward for her lost cat

An Army wife is offering a $1,000 reward to the person who helps her find her beloved cat August.

Kristin Murray hired a private investigator from Colorado to track down her feline friend.

“It was sheer panic, I admit it, I went nuts, I was screaming his name, I was outside running up and down the streets screaming his name, went door to door talking to my neighbors,” said Army wife Kristin Murray.

Murray bought her cat, August, two years ago. She says the cat became a part of the family. Even more after she realized she couldn’t have kids of her own
and having a husband who’s constantly deployed overseas.

But August also served another purpose in Murray’s life.

“I couldn’t afford a therapy cat or a dog,” said Murray.

Murray deals with bouts of anxiety.

“August, even though he’s never been trained, always could tell when I was about to go into one of my anxiety attacks,” said Murray.

August is a Maine Coon cat, not a common breed.

The cat looks like a mountain lion and weighs about 25 pounds.

August came with a price tag of $3,000 and Murray decided to hire professionals and spared no expense.

“I used everything, I used everything I had. I heard about a very famous canine company called K-9 PI,” said Murray.

The investigators came down from Colorado with four tracking dogs.

They are specifically used to search for lost pets and the dogs picked up a scent.

“He went straight down Birkstram Street,” said Murray.

“Over three blocks away that’s were Murray said the dogs lost their scent,” Murray told ABC-7.

Murray is convinced someone picked August up.

Now she has a message for those who might know where the cat is.

“If you saw him or you’re the one that put him in your car because he was too hot maybe and you’re taking care of him, or you saw and you took him because your kids fell in love with him, I’ll buy you as many kittens as you want. I’ll buy you any dog you want, just not August, not August,” said Murray.

Murray tells ABC-7 August is microchipped and her next step is to contact all veterinary clinics on every post across the United States.

If you have any information on August you can call her at 915-247-9131.
