Sheriff’s Office ID man killed in crash near Eastlake Saturday night
EL PASO, Texas – El Paso sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Saturday to a fatal rollover on eastbound Interstate 10 between the Eastlake on-ramp and the Horizon exit. The interstate was closed between both ramps due to the crash and traffic was diverted to the access roads.
According to EPSO officials a Honda compact and a semi-truck were involved in the incident where the semi-truck ended up rolled on its side.
Investigators say that the car was traveling at high speeds when the driver lost control and crashed into a guardrail. It was then thrown in front of the tractor-trailer. When trying to avoid a collision, the tractor-trailer driver, 31-year-old Aries J. Kar, then lost control and rolled onto the median.
Both Kar and his passenger were taken to a local area hospital.
Kar later died of injuries sustained during the crash. His passenger suffered non-life threatening conditions. The Honda driver and passenger did not suffer any injuries.
Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
