Sun Bowl players explore El Paso
The 81st Annual Hyundai Sun Bowl between ASU and Duke kicks off on Saturday Dec. 27, and players from both teams had a chance to explore El Paso.
“This is the real deal down here,” One player said. “But its been exciting. The people down here are so gentlemen and such lady like women its awesome.”
The players have had a long list of activities to do during their week long stay. One of the highlights being a trip to the world famous Lucchese boot factory.
A new experience for most.
“I mean I am a California boy so I am not used to wearing boots, but these feel nice,” One ASU player said.
Before the big game, players are also expected to dine at the famous Cattleman’s steakhouse, take part in the the battle of the bands and visit patients at Providence Children’s Hospital.
All of the players ABC 7 spoke with, said they have loved their visit and love the culture in the Borderland.
“The landscape is so pretty, I’ve never been to the Southwest and definitely want to come back soon and everyone is so nice,” One Duke long snapper said.
“I’ts been unbelievable,” A duke Freshman said. “I have been talking to a lot of the guys, and it’s just been such a great experience. The hospitality is just bar none one of the most amazing experiences I’ve got to have at Duke so far.
The game kicks off at noon.
