Woman killed in head-on collision; different woman charged with DWI after hitting vehicles involved in other collision
A woman was killed early Monday morning in a head-on collision not far from Ascarate Park.
It happened at about 3 a.m. on the 4700 block of Delta.
El Paso Police say the woman was killed because she was using her cell phone while driving.
Police say witnesses told them they saw 40-year-old Susan Flores on her phone and not paying attention to the road when she drove into oncoming traffic, hitting a truck.
She died at University Medical Center.
Two other people in the truck had minor injuries.
Police say 29-year-old Belen Rosas was driving drunk and crashed into the car and truck.
Rosas is in the county jail, charged with DWI.
Police say she clipped an officer who was on the scene helping those involved in the first wreck.
Rosas allegedly had a blood alcohol content almost twice the legal limit.
