One Direction at the Sun Bowl: Building a stage for the ‘best show ever’

One Direction may have gotten big practically overnight but their stages and production for their Where We Are Tour of stadiums doesn’t go up overnight.

Here is a timeline of what goes into the big production.

Sunday morning: Equipment, including fork lifts, flooring, and seats arrived to be installed at the Sun Bowl Stadium. Catering also arrived.

Monday: Thirty-four semi-trucks arrived with the rest of the production, including bringing in the stage.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Building the stage includes building the catwalk and a B stage that elevates 20 feet above the crowd near the end zone seats. The B stage, once elevated, becomes an LED box that will have the band members performing on top of it. The delay towers also are erected at this time and each one has its own weather station.

Thursday: This is production day when they start testing the sound and video and labeling the 10,000 seats on the floor.

Friday: It’s show day. Shriek!
