First Alert: Potential for Strong Wind Gust, Hail, and Scattered Storms Monday Afternoon and Evening
An upper levelstorm system moving east willincrease the chance forscattered showers and thunderstorms,with the potential for severe weather in the Borderland Monday afternoon. Any severe thunderstorms could bring strong wind gusts 60 to 70 mph for some locations, along withhail and flooding.
As the storm system approaches, it will drag in moisture fromthe souththe moisture, along with daytime heating will bring the threat for severe storms. Rain chances will be at 40% for El Paso and Las Cruces onMonday afternoon and evening, thendecrease to 30% overnight.Severe weather may cause strong winds in and around the Borderland.With already saturated ground, isolated flooding is a stronger concern for areas that are still trying to recover fromprevious floods.
