Winds pick up, blowing dust possible

Winds are expected to pick up Wednesday afternoon as an upper level storm system, called a trough, passes over the area.

The system will push in warm and dry air from the west.

Winds are expected to grow to 20-30 miles per hour, with gusts of 40 mph. Some areas along Eastern mountain slopes may even see gusts into the 50 mph range.

Blowing dust is possible with the winds, patchy around the region.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory due to the expected high winds from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Thursday into Friday winds will be breezy, on the upper end of the scale. By the weekend, winds will re-strengthen.
