YISD budget numbers released

Ysleta Independent School District has announced its 2013-2014 budget at the board meeting Wednesday night.

YISD is working with a budget of $442 million for the upcoming school year. District staff said they are able to reward their teachers and administrators with a 2 percent raise. Other staff will get about 2.5 percent raise. Out of all the district, YISD pays their teachers more on average. Right now the tax rate is at $1.33 per $100 of home valuation. That number is still being tinkered with because the district is waiting for total property values to come in by the end of July.

But budget supervisors say with the homestead credit, the rate could stay at less than 1 percent or about $900 per year for a$100,000 home.
