Borderland residents woke up to snow Friday

The ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather team has lifted the First Alert that was issued early Friday morning because of the snow and slippery road conditions.

The El Paso Airport reported 0.11 inches of precipitation.

Roads are expected to remain slippery through the early afternoon.

As of noon, Trans Mountain remained shut down by TXDOT officials. Crews were placing de-icer and sand.

The snow and rain are expected begin to die off by the early afternoon hours. Temperatures won’t warm up too much Friday thanks to the clouds in the area trapping the colder air. Our midnight temperature of 51 degrees is the high of the day so far. Windy conditions are expected to continue today but will fizzle off by the evening. We’ll keep a slight chance of rain in the forecast for Saturday.

Temperatures for the weekend will be similar to what we’ll see Friday. 47 will be the high temperature on Saturday. Sunday temps will hit 50 degrees.
