EPISD moves Laron Sharp back to principal at Irvin High School
About a week after being reassigned to Andress High School, Laron Sharp is back as principal at Irvin High School.
El Paso Independent School District administrators made the decision on Tuesday and announced it on Wednesday.
Sharp was back on campus Wednesday morning.
District officials say Sharp and administrators met over the past week to discuss concerns at the campus and it was determined that Sharp should return to Irvin.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue the work we’ve begun at Irvin,” Sharp said in a statement released by EPISD. “Irvin is a great school.”
“None of these decisions have been arbitrary,” EPISD Superintendent Juan Cabrera said. “We have some issues that we are working on but we are monitoring Irvin and moving forward to continue to build strong teams at all of our schools.”
Sharp’s reassignment to Andress last week caused an outcry among students at Irvin, including a protest.
Sharp was promoted from assistant principal at Irvin to principal at Irvin in Feb. 2013.
