First Alert continues for chance of rain and snow around the Borderland

The ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather team continues a First Alert for rain and snow possibilities around the Borderland.

A steady chance of a rain, sleet, snow mix is in the forecast for Friday. Winter weather advisories are in place over the entire region through 6 p.m. Friday evening. A winter storm warning is in effect for Culberson county, and most of the Sacramento Mountains through Friday night.

While the lower elevations will likely see rain with a rain/snow mix into the early evening, the higher elevations should see mostly snow throughout the day.

The best chance at rain and rain/snow is late Friday day in El Paso and Las Cruces.

Accumulations may be up to 4 to 8 inches in the Sacramento Mountains, 2 to 4 inches over the Gila, and 1 to 3 inches over lower elevations like El Paso and Las Cruces.

This storm activity is due to an upper level storms system passing from west to east over the region.
