Local UPS store prepares for busiest shipping day
The packages and gifts are piling up at a west El Paso UPS store.
The busy season is no surprise to owner Enrique Esteves and his wife as they prepare for Monday, December 15.
“We just deal with so many customers on Black Monday that we need the extra help,” said Esteves.
UPS expects to ship 38 million packages next Monday and 585 million packages in the month of December.
Esteves has been with UPS for 15 years and has nine stores through out Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
Business is good for his El Paso store, but he has seen a decrease because more customers are shopping online and shipping direct.
Esteves relies on customers shipping multiple packages this time of year.
Twenty percent of his yearly sales at the westside location come during the holiday season.
If you want your gifts and packages to arrive before Christmas, Esteves said to arrive early Monday or Tuesday morning to beat the lines and his employees will take care of the rest.
