FIRST ALERT: Fog around region Friday morning, Nice afternoon ahead

The Borderland was under dense fog in areas Friday morning, due to cool air, lingering surface moisture from last night’s rain, and drier air moving into the region at the upper level.

A dense fog advisory was posted for most of Southern New Mexico due to the heavy fog. It is in effect until 9 a.m.

The fog will limit visibility while driving, and lead to a longer morning commute as people drive slower.

Take extra precaution.

As for the afternoon, the fog will clear and a mostly sunny day should be revealed. The afternoon high temperature is forecast at 54 in El Paso and 53 in Las Cruces.

Temperatures will warm into the 60s next week, including Christmas Day.
