City Council Races: Noe, Ordaz, Niland win; District 1 headed to runoff
Four seats on the El Paso City Council were up for election Saturday.
Two of the three incumbents won comfortably.
City Reps Michiel “Mike” Noe won with 66 percent of the vote and Claudia Ordaz won with 73 percent of the vote in their respective races.
In District 8, incumbent Cortney Niland defeated challenger Josh Dagda with 54 percent of the vote.
Over in District 1, a crowded races with six candidates vying to fill the seat left vacant by Ann Morgan Lilly, is headed to a runoff.
Al Weisenberger had 2,009 votes or 32 percent of the vote and Peter Svarzbein had 1,584 votes or 25 percent of the vote.
To avoid a runoff a candidate needed 50 percent of the vote plus one vote.
