Woman pleads guilty to 2nd degree murder in killing of her boyfriend

A Las Cruces woman has pled no contest in connection with the deadly beating of her boyfriend.

Rebecca Gomez, 30, was originally charged with first degree murder and several other chargers for asking her boyfriend to kill her old boyfriend, 37-year-old Jerome Saiz.

Gomez ended up pleading no contest to second degree murder and kidnapping.

Earlier this year, a jury convicted Leonard Telles of second degree murder and other charges for killing Saiz.

Telles is serving a 39-year prison sentence for brutally beating the victim to death with a baseball bat. He then rolled him up in a rug.

Telles said he got caught up in a love triangle that led him to kill Gomez’s old boyfriend in self-defense.
