Woman sentenced in son’s death
A 30-year-old mother has been sentenced in the death of her 4-year old child.
Vikki Macias had been charged with capital murder, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of injury to a child with intent to cause serious injury.
Her son, Dallas Ryan Macias, died in 2011 from a serious head injury and fractured neck.
At the time, his mother told police he fell off the bed.
But when he was in the hospital, police say the child had a broken leg that was healing that had never been attended to.
Macias was originally tried her in 2012, but it was declared a mistrial after an El Paso Police detective began crying on the stand.
