Home invasion in West El Paso

An elderly couple couldn’t believe what was happening Tuesday morning as their home was invaded.

A 91-year-old man and 88-year-old wife said they were followed by a male suspect on their morning walk all the way to their garage. Police have only said the suspect is listed as an African-American.

Police said the man went into the home as the couple entered through a garage door. The robber attacked the 91-year-old husband, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Neighbors we talked with still cannot believe this happened.

“I have been here 15 years and we have never had any problems,” one neighbor said. “Never, just never, this is a really peaceful neighborhood.”

The 88-year-old woman refused to speak on camera but did tell us she is glad to be alive and said this can happen to anyone even in the broad daylight.

The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information about the home invasion is urged to call police at 832-4400.
