new video this morning of the moments before “el chapo” guzm escapes from his prison cell–prison authorities unaware his pacing was unusual seconds before he gave them the slip. also- a deal has been made but what’s expected in the months ahead for the nuclear accord between the united states and iran?/ “to be able to get 158 students tested is pretty remarkable” more el pasoans have a positive test positive for tuberculosis this morning… in two different locations. what parents of students testing positive need to know.– a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. good morning! we’re watching rain this morning around the region, and we could see some tstorms pop up near the borderland this morning as they track from northern mexico north into the u.s. as for temps, they’re a bit higher than we have been seeing because of cloudiness that stuck around overnight and held in heat. the moisture in place is a nice plume that is pumping around high pressure to our east. it will affect rain chances come this afternoon and night. we’ll look at rain chances and the potential of rain into this weekend, coming up! new developments this morning in the new developments this morning in the manhunt for escaped drug lord “el chapo.” the mexica government has fired several prison officials… aknowledging the wanted king-pin must have had help from authorities to complete his elaborate underground escape. abc’s brandi hit has the latest on this story developing now. you’re looking at new video… showing the last time prison officials saw powerful drug lord — joaquin “el chapo” guzman — moments before his escape . as the manhunt intensifies… a nearly 4 million dollar reward is now being offered… to capture the dangerous king-pin. sot — “the fugitive must have had hel from personnel or officials from the prison “… said mexico’s interior minister… announcing the firing of three top prison officials. abc news has also learned “el chapo’s” sophisticated escape plan… was at least six months in the making. this mile- long… lit … and ventilated tunnel… leading directly from his prison cell… to this newly constructed home. sot — gio benitez, abc news in mexico gio: “in six to seven months… that house was built.” 4 officials say “e chapo” is responsible for ten of thousands of deaths by drug overdoses and murders… with his empire — spanning the globe… and infiltrating 76 major u-s cities. sot — josh earnest, white house press secretary “offer the full support of th united states government… to the mexican government to capture mr. guzman.” the last time “el chapo” escap prison … he had the resources to hide for 13 years. the associated press reports the d-e-a obtained intelligence last year… that he may be planning another escape. but government officials in mexico claim… they were never warned. brandi hitt — abc news — los angeles. it has taken years of intense diplomacy to get iran to the negotiating table. and many months more to work out this nuclear deal. but the fight is not over, yet. celebrations continue on the streets of iran. the crowds hopeful for a better future … after negotiators emerged victorious, announcing they had finally struck a historic nuclear deal with iran. the basic outline of the deal: iran will voluntarily cut back most of its nuclear activities for the next decade and submit to constant international inspections. in return, the u.s. and its allies will lift the sanctions crippling iran’s economy. we’ll have more about what the critics are saying about the deal coming up in just a bit right here on gog morning el paso . / it took a nasa spacecraft nearly a decade to reach pluto. happening today– we could be seeing some of the best images of the dwarf planet to date. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the details…denise? the new horizons spacecraft was launched in 2006. now in order to focus on studying pluto…the probe stopped sending messages to earth while the spacecraft passed by the planet. now we are just waiting for those images from nasa. “new horizons” has traveled mo than nine years, covering more than three billion miles– to reach pluto. launched january 19th, 2006– the piano-sized spacecraft is the first to visit the icy world discovered more than 80 years ago. in 1994– the hubble space telescope, snapped images of pluto. but it has been more than 20 years of technologiccal advancements since. the images we see today– likely the best ones yest. closer to home here in el paso corey stone, the manager of e-p-i-s-d’s planetarium talked to abc-7 about the meaning of this mission: “places like pluto… as well a us” pluto was discovered by las cruces astronomer clyde tombaugh. it takes four hours for “new horizons to send data back to earth. nasa expects to release images this afternoon. now to our complete coverage of the tuberculosis testing going on here in el paso . more el pasoans have a positive test positive for tuberculosis this morning… in two different locations. “even if your child plays wit one of those children who tested positive it is not possible to transmit the infection to other children.” another 13 people tested positive for t-b at frank macias elementary school. all 13 are school staff. that makes 51 positive cases at the horizon city school, just east of el paso. the health department tells us none of those who tested positive are showing symptoms of active t-b. but more testing is needed, including chest x- rays. if those tests come back normal, it’s a case of latent t-b which can be treated in 12 weeks with antibiotics. the health department also released the t-b test results from a central el paso halfway house. dismas charities is on the 7-thousand block of alameda near ascarate park. they say 200 adults have been identified as possibly being exposed to an active case of t-b at the facility. so far, 137 resident were tested and 38 staff. 155 are negative, 20 positive. 42 still need to be tested. our complete coverage continues online at kvia-dot- com with a video explaining what t-b is and how it’s spread. just click on the tuberculosis image. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… still to come here on good morning el paso after negotiators emerged victorious–there is still more to be done in the deal with iran. and later- aside from national security, there are other reasons we should care about the deal with iran–we’ll explain after the break meteorologist krystal klei has your detailed forecast. krystal… and this is abc-7, where news comes first!
