breaking news this afternoon. the controversial pay raise for el paso’s city manager will stand. city representative claudia ordaz asked that it be discussed again after public backlash questioning the 61- thousand dollar pay hike for tommy gonzalez, one year into the job. abc-7’s maria garcia reports — the vote was painful and the disagreement, very public. city rep claudia ordaz was among those who voted to give gonzalez the roughly 25 percent raise. after just one year, gonzalez’s salary went from 239-thousand to 300- thousand. more than 20 people signed up to speak about the issue. ordaz placed the item on today’s agenda after receivng calls and emails from constituents. gonzalez’s salary went from 239- thousand annually to 300-thousand. the meeting was tense, with many sharp exchanges. and just moments ago, council voted on whether to repeal gonzalez’s raise. again– that measure failed, on a 5-3 vote, so the raise stays. representatives ordaz, carl robinson and lily limon voted for repeal. mayor orscar leeser has a chance to veto the item, but did not say if he intends to do that at all. as per city rules, he has five days to do it. maria garcia, abc-7. for a look at your stormtrack weather forecast… we go to stormtrack meteorologist krystal klei. for a look at your stormtrack
