Raymond Garces gets probation for involvement in Dona Ana County home invasion
Raymond Garces walked free with his family today. They were all smiles after hearing Garces won’t spend anymore time in jail.
“So i ask the court please be lenient on my son,” Cindy Garces, the mother of Raymond Garces, said.
An emotional plea for justice by Raymond Garces’ mother at his sentencing.
“Raymond is the victim he lost his brother,” Garces said.
“But it was certainly not appropriate or good judgement that was made to accompany the others,” District Judge Fernando Macias said.
Judge Fernando Macias reminded the court of Garces participation in the deadly home invasion. He sentenced Garces to 10 and a half months of supervised probation.
“I’m very happy with the judges decision I think justice was served,” Jonathan Miller, Garces’ attorney said.
During sentencing, Garces’ attorney Jonathan Miller said his client was not “themain bad guy.”
“The alleged victim in this matter according to council is currently incarcerated in Carlsbad so i think that strengthens our case,” Miller said.
Miller stressed that Garces was there to make peace. He says the family is happy now that this chapter has come to a close.
“Its crucial to note that the report said Raymond was the peace maker and he left and he never went to the property to cause any damage he went there to help out his family,” Miller said.
Judge Macias told the court that Torrez’s current run in with the law had nothing to do with today’s decision. The trial for Nathan Avalos, the final man involved in the home invasion, is still pending.
