High School FB: Two A Days – Mayfield
this one takes place at mayfield high school … it began as a normal season… mayfield is ranked number 2 in the state… coming off back to back losses in the state title game … the players had one goal… lombardi: “we fell that one game short. that obviously brings a fire to the practice field and to the weight room and everything and we’re using that right now.” then… everything changed… mayfield coaching legend jim bradley died at the age of 82… the news impacted everyone… the loss was felt by current and former players alike… alderette: “you shaped a lot of us to what we are today. if i could say anything to you coach, right now. i love you and you were like a father figure to me.” and it’s with a heavy hear that bradley’s son… michael… will lead his team back for the upcoming season… bradley: “you hate to go through these kinds of things but i just want to thank everyone and i’m so blessed to have everybody helping us out.” what coach bradley has is his family… his players… and always … his father’s guidance.. bradley: “tough time don’t last but tough people do. that was his favorite saying. i’ve said it a million times and he’s said it to me. in tough situations, you think of a saying or something like that and you hold on to it for dear life.” vance: “almo every sign in our weight room is a saying from his dad. the pain of discipline and the pain of regret, you choose. that’s from his dad. we base all of our workouts and all of our practices and everything off of that so he’s still around.” mayfield is still expected to compete for a state title… but regardless of what happens… somewhere … by just sticking together… by just playing for one another… by being a family.. they’ve made jim bradley proud … mayfield opens its season on friday night at hobbs… you can find all of our two a days stories on our website: kvia dot com … tomorrow night… our final stop… we’ll visit canutillo … very bad news out of cowboys
