Parking problems at Coronado High School
day of school already in the books– there still are some questions that remain unanswered. including the parking situation at coronado high school in west el paso. abc 7’s luke lyddon has the answer, as part of our “back to school” series.. if you drive alongside coronado high school you will notice these no parking signs. forcing students to find other parking spots off campus. nats: car driving by. “we don’t have enough parking at coronado. at this moment, street parking is the only option for a lot of these students.” standup: “this will be a common sight as cars will still be able to be parked in this neighborhood right across the street from coronado high school. so for this upcoming school year students will still have an extra option to park if that parking lot becomes full.” the episd and city rep cortney niland have worked together to not restrict parking in nearby neighborhoods. but instead take a different approach. “we are going to work on monitoring that area with our own police dept. to make sure students are parking appropriately that littering is not an issue.” som residents aren’t too happy about the idea. ” would say at least 3 times in the last few years, there has been some sort of accident. somebody has run into the cars parked along the curb.” but no other solutions are currently available to both the school and students. “if parking restrictions are forced there it would put us in a situation where students have to cross mesa or other busy streets to get to school.” “i hav mixed feelings, but i feel something should be done about the parking situation.” the thunderbirds parking lot may be overcrowded but spots should be available just down the road off campus. luke lyddon, abc 7. there arent any no parking signs in the nearby neighborhood– but it is recomennded you leave early if you want to grab a spot closer to campus. more
