UTEP ranks top 10 in Washington Monthly Magazine
and i’m rick cabrera. washington monthly magazine has released its list of the nation’s top ten colleges and universities. stanford, harvard, and ucla are some of the premier universities mentioned — alongside utep! abc-7’s iris lopez was at today’s announcement. she tells us where utep ranks, and what it means for the university. nat of cheerleaders cheering utep president diana natalicio’s celebrating her birthday …and a top ten ranking. dr. natalicio) “with our fourth #1 consecutive ranking in social mobility and our 3rd top ten ranking. utep’s academic year is off to a wonderful start as we continue building to an even brighter future.” utep is number 10 in washington monthly magazine’s annual list. “the 2015 ranking places utep i the company of harvard, stanford, and many other prestigious colleges.” dr. natalicio: “located where w are, you know we’re not in the northeast corridor we’re not on the east coast and so, sometimes it’s difficult to get our message out. a ranking like this just does wonders for us.” utep ranke 7th overall in 2013 and 8th in 2014. and the university remains number 1 in the social mobility category for the fourth straight year. “washington monthly magazin rates schools based on their contribution to the public in 3 broad categories.” dr. natalicio:) one is social mobility, which is how much value do you add between a time a student begins and when that student graduates, and another one is research, and the third one is service to the community to the nation to the state to the world.” students here hope this ranking will make other students consider utep for their education. “there’s this raw mentality tha we have to leave el paso that you have to leave texas to get a great education. not necessarily at all. there is this ranking now that shows that we are committed to making sure that we do well in research.”
