Comanche Trail Pipeline Project Moves Forward

and most … but not all commissioners are not happy about it. abc-7’s andrew j. polk is live with the new information. andrew? rick and estela, the county voted 4 to 1 today to allow the survey for the comanche trail pipeline to move forward on county land … but the disagreement about how it’s being handled continues. off the top 1:02 “i just don’t believe that this company has really made any effort to assist with this situation, to help inform the residents.” commissioner vinc perez was the only one to vote against allowing energy transfer partners to continue with it’s land survey for the comanche trails pipeline through the lower valley… but he wasn’t the only commissioner to say he wasn’t happy. ” have been very dissatisfied with even the information that has reached me – that has reached us.” commissioners leon, stout, and county judge veronica escobar also spoke to the frustations they’ve felt with engergy transfer partners in making sure lower valley residents are informed about what’s going on with the pipeline… but say they voted in favor because there’s nothing the county can legally do to oppose it. oil and natural gas pipelines have wide legal latitude in texas… and commissioners believe any legal challenge to stop the survey would just be defeated. but commissioner andrew haggerty says that trying to stand in the way of the pipeline over what kind of meeting residents should get has been foolish from the start. “the fact that they were willing to work with us – we should have been willing to work with them. to say you didn’t do exactly what we wanted, so we’re going to make it harder for you – i don’t think gave el paso the light that i’m hoping to bring, which is that we’re pro business, we’re pro growth.” commissioners wanted the company to have a town hall type of meeting for residents… but energy transfer partners instead held an “ope house” meeting, where residents could get information at a number of tables with displays and company representatives. rick and estela? andrew, thank you for the update. it looks like there may not be a
