Progress Between UMC and Children’s?

now to the late breaking developments out of south el paso. university medical center giving children’s hospital until today to take the help… or fend for itself in bankruptcy court. abc-7’s darren hunt continues our complete coverage live at u-m-c. rick and estela, the meeting immediately went into executive session to discuss the children’s hospital bankruptcy … meaning of course, we had to leave the room. the meeting went on for about two hours, during which we are told children’s latest response to terms to save the hospital were discussed at length by the umc board. during the meeting i contacted children’s officials to ask about the terms of the latest offer. however, a children’s spokesperson would only tell me that they are “continuin conversations with umc.” when the board meetin concluded about an hour ago, we spoke with county judge veronica escobar about the feeling in the room as these latest discussions were going on today … since the clock is clearly tick, tick, ticking away at this point for el paso children’s. “does it sound promising at thi point? you know, we have to stay optimistic so we’re gonna hope for the best … it’s moving in the right direction that’s for sure … what’s different about this offer? i can’t discuss the details they are confidential.” escobar went on to say the only purpose of today’s meeting was to review children’s counter proposal. but again, that hard deadline for an agreement remains 5 pm wednesday, largely because the county is scheduled to meet with umc on thursday to finalize the hospital’s budget. rick and estela. open developing now … a 21-year-old man suspected of burglarizing twenty- two cars overnight
