State Representative questions streets funding for City: ‘We can’t govern like this’

State Representative Cesar Blanco told ABC-7 he is concerned about the Metropolitan Planning Organization and the way it earmarked funds for a project the City of El Paso is not ready to take on.

“The city engineering department has had a history of not being ready to build projects,” he told ABC-7’s Maria Garcia.

Blanco said 5 projects south of I-10 have been deprogrammed, or taken off the funding list, because the City has not been ready to move.

“We can’t govern this way,” said Blanco. “We need to utilize the federal dollars that are coming down effectively and efficiently.”
