Middle school student holds costume drive

school student is spreading the halloween spirit to less fortunate children in the city. 12-year-old olivia mercado is launching her third annual “costume boo-tique”. t community service project helps to provide children living in the salvation army shelter with free halloween costumes. those costumes are provided by people around the community who generously donated their old costumes to the salvation army. mercado got the idea for her “costume boo-tique” afte volunteering at the salvation army with her mom, and noticing that not every kid was prepared for halloween. “i started this because i was working with my mom because she works there so i just go after school sometimes and i asked her do the kids have any costumes for halloween she told me no, and i just assumed that every kid gets a costume. s i know that every kid likes halloween cause who doesn’t like free candy? everyone likes free candy. so i thought oh maybe we could have people donate costumes.” if you have any costumes laying around that you would like to donate to olivia’s, “costume boo-tique”, you can drop them off at the salvation army which is located at 43- hundred east paisano. sunday
