Estela’s Escuelas: Girls Who Code Club

technology, in today’s estela’s we take you out to parkland high school — home of the area’s first “girls who cod club.” this is a national program that allows girls interested in stem fields to hone their skills. it aims to give girls a competitive edge in 21st century technological fields, where women are heavily under represented. club members will learn and practice computer programming and coding, and use that to develop apps, games and websites. “the fact that is is a ne language. it’s like learning a new secret and you have access to it. and it’s like writing in a language that only certain people understand. and i really like doing that. parkland’s girls who code club is the first of several. the council on regional economic expansion and educational development — or creeed … which helped launch the club — plans to add two more. the obama administration hosted
