Man arrested in early morning stabbing at East El Paso bar

Update: El Paso Poilce have arrested a 33-year-old man and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say Daniel Saldivar is responsible for a stabbing at Hiney’s sports bar in East El Paso.

Police say Saldivar got into a fight with another man out in the bar’s patio shortly after closing.

The fight continued in the parking lot behind the bar, where police say Saldivar allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the man.

That’s when a witness attacked Saldivar with a baseball bat.

Saldivar and the victim were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they could not find the man who attacked Saldivar with the bat.

Original Story: Two people were taken to the hospital after a stabbing in East El Paso Thursday morning.

The incident happened just after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Lomaland Drive and Gateway East Boulevard.

El Paso Police say a fight began at the Hiney’s Restaurant.

When our crew arrived on the scene, police were interviewing witnesses and investigating the parking lot.

Two people were taken to Del Sol Medical Center, one with serious injuries. According to emergency transmissions, one person had a stab wound to the chest.

No word yet on any arrests.
