93-year-old woman shot and killed at assisted living center

at a senior living center. an elderly woman is dead after police say she was shot and killed by her husband. it happened overnight at monte vista at coronado living center on the 1500 block of belvidere in west el paso. abc-7’s jerry najera joins us in our studio with the very latest: evan, josie. the woman who was killed overnight was 93-years-old but it’s who shot her that have many taken aback. “we’re at 1575 belvider officers where officers were dispatched on a shooting” it was late afternoon when police arrived at the monte vista at coronado. monte vista is a senior living community center. police say a care taker walked into a couples room and a 91-year-old man who lived there told the care taker he had shot his wife. “it wa reported by the husband when the caretakers went to check on him” “in shock you’re lik here?” steven prerez father lives at the monte vista. he tells me-he feels it’s a very safe place. “very nice place one of the top notch places” perez says he doesn’t really question the security at senior living center. but he does question how a 91-year-old man was in possesion of a gun. “how can you be a certain age be ninety and operate a handgun” police tell me the man was well aware of what was going on and he was arrested without incident. i callled monte vista at coronado and spoke with the executive director he tells me it was an isolated incident and nobody else was in danger. i did ask him about their weapons policy. he said and i qoute “i’ve told all i can tell you” evan josie. and new information
