Apartment catches fire in Central El Paso

Firefighters were called out to an apartment complex in North-Central El Paso early Monday morning when a fire broke out in a first story apartment.

It happened just after 5 a.m. at the Los Arcos apartments the 4600 block of Alabama. Fire crews say they saw flamed when they arrived at the building. It was put out by 6:15 a.m. The cause of the fire is unknown at this point. Fire officials say it was contained to only one apartment unit.

9 apartment units had to be evacuated. Fire crews say there were no injuries. Fire crews say the smoke alarms were working, and those were able to alert the residents.

Sun Metro provided transportation for those who needed shelter.

Northbound traffic on Alabama was blocked during the incident.
