Pope to be greeted by hundreds of children in Juarez

Pope Francis will be greeted by 2,500 children when he lands at the Juarez airport next month.

In a press conference Tuesday, Father Hesiquio Trevizo said the pope will be greeted by a choir made up of 800 children and another 100 special needs children.

Four orchestras will also be on hand to provide music for the children’s choir as they sing ‘Viva Chihuahua’ to the pope.

The pope is expected to arrive in Juarez between 10 and 10:30 the morning of February 17.

Father Trevizo added that the welcome ceremony will happen in the private hangar area on the south side of the Juarez airport terminal. Trevizo also told the media a call center has been opened to answer any questions people may have about the visit.

From the airport, Pope Francis will go straight to the CERESO prison about 2 miles away.

Another 2,500 children, as well as Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and his wife, will be at the airport in the evening to bid farewell to the Pope.
