EPISD looking to solve Burges locker room issue

The Bowie Bears basketball team ran into an issue they never had before; no nearby locker room to head into during halftime against Burges.

During the half the Mustangs walked to their locker rooms, but Bowie couldn’t use the visitors locker rooms in that same gym. The only option available was to use the locker rooms outside in the track and field building.

Instead Bowie sat at mid-court during halftime and it rubbed all the Bowie parents the wrong way.

Martin Nores, a parent, said, “It is sad to see adults acting immature. The kids are there to compete, not deal with stupidity.”

EPISD still has not found a solution to the ongoing locker room issue.

The district released a statement saying, “EPISD Athletics and officials have met with the Burges administration to seek solutions to the locker room situation. The District is interested in providing adequate locker room space to both the home and visiting team at Burges. Several options are being studied and a final recommendation has not yet been determined. “
