John Drugan Elementary school placed on lockdown

John Drugan Elementary was placed on lockdown after someone called to report possible shots fired near the desert area by the school.

This happened around 10:15 Friday morning in far east El Paso.

A spokesperson with the Socorro Independent School District spokesperson said authorities inspected the area and cleared it, but just then, someone called 911 to report a similar incident.

The school was placed on lockdown again.

El Paso Police showed up and inspected the area and cleared it. The second lockdown lifted a little after noon.

Some parents went to go pick up their kids.

Classes have since resumed as scheduled.
