Crews begin to clean up dead fish at Ascarate

Crews Friday began to clean up the numerous dead fish found at Ascarate Lake in south El Paso.

One park-goer ABC-7 spoke with said, ‘It smells horrible here. It’s giving me a headache.”

County Commissioner David Stout attributed the dead fish to an algae problem in the lake.

ABC-7 reached out county public works department to find out when the problem would be fixed, but have not heard back.

A ‘no fishing’ sign was seen due to lake conditions.
