caucuses now behind them, the candidates are rallying voters in new hampshire – less than a week away from that state’s primary. abc’s bazi kanani brings us the latest in the race for the white house. him. we expect him at the next republican debate– on abc news– this weekend. new this morning … from our new mexico mobile newsroom. the sunland park city council voted to hire a temporary city manager last night. bob gallagher got the job and will start work today. the vote was 4-to-3 with mayor perea breaking the tie and becoming the deciding vote. councilors sergio carillo and isabel santos were against the move… questioning gallagher’s availability. he will work only two weeks per month making — in their opinion — a full time salary. gallagher will be payed $56- thousand dollars. after the vote… we asked gallagher on what he plans to tackle with his new job. “i want sunland park to gai the respect of those other governmental agencies so we can sit at the adults table when it comes to making decisions and not at the little childrens table. but we have to earn that respect and we will go start that job tomorrow morning.” again–gallagher will be starting this morning. / a las cruces mother is behind bars this morning after a disturbing case of child abuse.. police say 29-year- old stacy adams had her children living in extreme filth. she was arrested monday at her mobile home park near solano and main. the children — ages one — six and eight are now in state custody police say adams told them the mobile home where they lived in did not have hot water for the last three months and her kids hadn’t bathed. a state case worker was tipped off by someone at alameda elementary where the two older children went to school. court documents state the children told them their home was very dirty and there was no food. a spokeswoman with las cruces public schools — thanked an employee who spoke out about the alleged child abuse case. whoever made that report, we’re proud that they stepped forward, they get to remain anonymous. that’s the protection of the law we have. that’s what they’re supposed to do. hopefully everything turns out well for these kids. they need to be cared for.” admas is charged with 3 counts of child abuse. new information is coming out about a man who was found dead in montana vista over the weekend— authorities say the young man– was murdered. and now—the el paso sheriff’s office needs your help finding those responsible for the death of 16-year-old michael anthony tapia. details about how he was killed — have not been released. investigators are only telling us — tapia was found near flager street and tangerine avenue. if you know anything — you’re asked to call the el paso county sheriff’s office. now to the latest on the zika virus spreading rapidly across many areas of the world. turns out—the virus is not only transmitted by mosquitos .. / ” “dallas county health and human services has received confirmation of a zika case associated with acquiring locally.” health officials in dallas say a person in texas has been infected with the virus after having sex with someone who contracted the illness from venezuela. it’s the first case of the virus being transmitted in the u-s during the zika outbreak in south america. the virus may be linked to babies born with abnormally small heads and brain damage. right now the c-d-c isn’t saying who got the infection, or where…. but they say that in this case a developing fetus isn’t at risk. now to some abc-7 traffic alerts to pass along— we want to remind you that–el paso electric will be working downtown for the next 6- weeks. crews will be on the corner of overland and stanton to work on new service to a building in the area. there will be detour signs to guide you around the area. meanwhile—el paso electric will be working along montana from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m…. crews will be completing transmison work along the road for the remainder of the week until friday. / now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… the temperatures are frigid this morning– but before you know it– it’ll be time to plan that spring or
