Human chain volunlteers prepare for Pope’s visit

Six thousand people took part in a drill Sunday where volunteers prepared to form the human chain that will line the streets during the pope’s visit, but that’s only a small fraction of total volunteers.

Right now, about 60,000 are signed up to help the day of the pope’s visit. They will stand along the streets where the Pope will drive through, providing security for the man himself and medical aid to those who need it in the area.

As many as are part of the chain now, more are still needed.

“We expect 60 to 70 thousand people to form the human chain, but hope as many as 80 thousand end up volunteering,” said Father Beto Luna, one of the organizing priests.

If you would like to volunteer for the human chain you can contact Corpus Christi church in Cd. Juarez, or call them.

Their number is +52 (656) 647-1301.
