7 victims, 4 dead and no arrests —new this morning we hear from one of the survivors of the las cruces bowling alley massacre 26 years later. “the last thing we need i another bush. that i can tell you. ” donald trump at it again—what the gop candidate is also saying about hillary clinton…. plus–the latest developments on the campaign trail. vo the chihuahuas baseball season is just around the corner and happening today—the ballpark is holding a job fair to fill dozens of positions. a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. we will get to the first forecast in just a bit…but first from our round the clock news team… one person is in the hospital in serious condition after a crash in far east el paso last night. it happened around 8-30 on loop 375 by montana. the loop was closed for several hours overnight, but is open for your morning commute. abc-7 is waiting to learn the identies of two people that were killed in a crash in northwest el paso yesterday. the crash happened around 10 yesterday morning on i-10 east at transmountain. three vehicles were involved. the fereway was shutdown in both directions for hours. the 2 people who died were pronounced dead at the scene. one person was taken to umc with serious injuries. a disturbing cold murder case in las cruces remains unsolved–2 and a half decades later. from our new mexico mobile newsroom …. 26 years ago on february 10th, two armed men walked into a las cruces bowling alley. they shot seven people and four of them died. among them, three girls. new this morning we are hearing from a woman who worked in the kitchen at the bowling alley. ida holguin was shot by the gunmen after they stole nearly 5- thousand dollars from a safe in the office. “i would just want to see them, like… how could you do this? what kind of people, what would they look like to do something like this? last year, las cruces crimestoppers increased the reward money to 25- thousand dollars. if you have any information on the massacre — call crime stoppers at 1- 800-222 tips. temperatures will continue to run several degrees above average through at least sunday. we will see mostly clear skies with light winds. on sunday night we will see some slightly cooler air move into the region but we will continue to see sunny dry conditions. temperatures will again be on the rise into the middle part of next week with highs running almost 10 degrees above average. narrowed, all the republican candidates now fit on one stage after carly fiorina and chris christie drop out, taking the fight to south carolina. and for the democrats, another debate tonight. abc’s lana zak has the details. it’s your voice your vote– trump sot: we may have to stage a phony protest. that’s the only way they show the size of these crowds. this crowd is amazing.” donald trump with even more spring in his step following his major win in new hampshire–forcing two more candidates–chris christie and carly fiorina out of the race. trump says he’s ready to take on democratic challenger, hillary clinton trump sot: we’re going to beat her and honestly women don’t like her, in new hampshire, clinton lost women voters 44 to 55% —- and young people 16% to 83%. but nationally, clinton still has the advantage over bernie sanders, who tells abc’s cecilia vega he has work to do. vega: if the election were tomorrow do you think you could win south carolina and nevada? sanders: no. fortunately for us the election is not tomorrow. gw bush ad nats and another candidate grateful for some extra campaign time–jeb bush–who confirms his brother will join him on the trail hitting trump hard yesterday after his fourth place finish in new hampshire bush sot: he is an entertaining person. unless you are a woman. unless you are a hispanic, unless you’re a pow, unless you’re a disabled person. but second-place winner john kasich says he’s unlikely to go on the attack kasich sot: i’m not gonna be a pincushion or a marshmallow but i’m also not gonna spend my time trying to trash over people. tag: back in kasich’s home state of ohio, a controversial bill to cut off funding for planned parenthood programs on aids and domestic violence, has passed…kasich says he will sign it. lz abc n, w. there is no date set for the next ethics hearing for el paso city council representative larry romero and city manager tommy gonzalez. continuing our complete coverage… four motions were made during yesterday’s hearing … directing the attorney for the commission, ross fisher, to prepare a list of witnesses who can be interviewed. number two— interview noe hinojosa .. he’s the man city rep. romero did not tell council he used to work with when his name was up for a city job. third…. in the event of romero’s resignation, the attorney will still conduct an interview with him. and the attorney will prepare a letter summarizing the evidence for and against each of the respondents. if the commission finds gonzalez and romero were somehow involved in wrongdoing, they could face sanctions and gonzalez could lose his job. the formal complaint was filed by jim tolbert, romero’s opponent in the 2013 runoff election. city rep. larry romero may have verbally resigned to the mayor, but the city attorney tells abc-7 that doesn’t count — legally: the texas election code requires elected officials to submit their resignation in writing – which romero has not done. city attorney sylvia firth says after … and if … romero turns in a resignation letter, the city council can accept it. but even if they don’t accept it, the resignation would become effective in eight days – whichever comes first. the texas election code does not allow council to deny the resignation. if romero resigns, the texas constitution requires the city to hold an election within four months. because it takes time to get it approved, council would have to call for the election before march 22 – to get the race on the may 7th ballot. abc-7 did reach out to romero but he did not get back to us. one of the most successful high school football coaches in el paso’s history is retiring. montwood high schol coach chuck veliz announced his retirement today … just five days after the socorro school district finalized an investigation into the way he accounted for fundraising money. as abc-7 reported in july, parents complained to the district that the accounting was not clear. a spokesman for s-i-s-d told us tonight, the investigation was completed and there was a follow up last friday. daniel escobar told us quote “there were some findings that the systems weren’t followed as they should’ve been.” he said the district took appropriate measures, but couldn’t release details on a personnel matter. coach veliz’s last day at montwood is march 31st. job hunters– listen up! here’s one opportunity you may not want to miss today. the el paso chihuahuas team is hiring employees for its upcoming season. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the latest…denise?
