do on monday concerning the investigation into city manager tommy gonzalez. abc-7 combed through nearly 200 pages of the investigation report. here’s a summary: according to the investigator, gonzalez did not violate the law or his authority when he green-lighted the search for a new financial adviser. there’s also no evidence gonzalez or city rep larry romero would have benefited financially from the city hiring firm estrada hinojosa. though the investigator recommends the council ask gonzalez to provide information on pay he’s received for outside consulting since becoming city manager. the investigator did discovered something that could hurt gonzalez. turns out the company gonzalez preferred to overhaul the city’s engineering department had sponsored a conference for a state board he’s on. / on the other hand … the report has a lot of criticism against former city manager joyce wilson. it says she refused to cooperate with the investigation. the report says wilson was influenced by politics when she purposely delayed the issuance of the ballpark bonds until after the mayoral election. wilson declined to identify to the investigator the city reps who asked her to delay the issuance of the bonds. the investigator says the city can subpoena wilson to potentially sue her or ask the attorney general to investigate her. meanwhile… the city ethics commission is trying to figure out what to do with the ethics complaint against city rep larry romero. the problem is that he has already resigned from office. commissioner adolfo telles quickly made a motion to dismiss the complaints against romero. saying too much time and resources would be wasted when ultimately he’s already out of office. telles later voted against his own motion. the commission voted to continue the investigation into romero they also set a hearing for the ethics violation april 13th at the council chamber. they are hoping romero will be well enough to answer questions before he is replaced.
