El Paso man killed in crash in Hudspeth County

An El Paso man was killed in a car crash Monday night in Hudspeth County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. It states the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 116 on Interstate 10, which is just outside of Sierra Blanca.

DPS states David Bajer, 41, of El Paso, was the passenger in a Chevrolet Malibu when the driver of the Malibu became distracted and rear-ended the Frieghtliner Truck in front of her without applying breaks. The driver, 45-year-old Ermalinda Corrales of Pecos, was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. Bajer was not wearing his seatbelt and died on scene.

His body was taken to Legacy Mortuary.

DPS states the speed limit was 80 miles per hour.

The driver of the Freightliner, 48-year-old James Ramirez Abner of Los Indios, Texas, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
