Remembering Samantha Aguilar
we know about how she died — but what we’re learning tonight is that she was a young girl with a sense of humor — a bright smile and she had her very own youtube channel. today students at hanks high school wore red and released red balloons in memory of sammie who was killed after being thrown from a carnival ride on friday. good evening, i’m rick cabrera. and i’m estela cas. samantha’s favorite color was red and her user name on youtube was “sammie smiles.” t 16- year-old was an honor student with a bright future ahead of her. abc-7’s evan folan was at today’s memorial — he joins us live from hanks high school — evan.. rick/estela it was a tough day for many students at hanks high school. several are still coming to terms with losing a fellow classmate. “we lost a beautiful friend athlete and a top knight” ” cant imagine life without her now that she is gone hundreds of students gathered to celebrate the life of samantha aguilar. “she was just so amazing, alway positive and happy.” “she was the nicest person… she always had a smile on her and it would light up the room many said she was a great friend. “she wa beautiful sweet little girl always smiling always happy and really truly cared about others than herself.” “she was like really special she was one of those people that wanted to help you fix your problems” in the classroom – she excelled – and was ranked 11th in her class. “sh was a hard worker and always busted her butt” on the track she was dedicated to her team. “she was just amazing – she was an awesome teammate” her coach still struggling with the tragedy… “she was important to everyone and she was very special to everyone – i cant talk anymore i am sorry.” and many are still in disbelief.. it just hurt us because we dont think that anything could happen to us and it did. but her way of life has inspired other classmates. everytime i have a bad day everytime something goes wrong in my day – i will use her positive energy… and her memory will live on. “w will always miss you and love you sammy, rest in peace.” earlier today, y-i-s-d superintendent
