Police identify man shot while breaking up fight outside Turnt Lounge

Police identified a man shot while trying to break up a fight early Sunday in the parking lot of the Turnt Lounge.

Investigators with the El Paso Police Department’s gang Unit said 32-year-oldGregory Howard Alford was shot about 5 a.m. on the 4000 block of Thompkins at Nations in north-central El Paso.

Alford told police he was trying to break up a fight when a man pulled a gun and shot him several times. He said he didn’t know the man.

Witnesses took Alford to a nearby fire station, and he was then taken to University Medical Center for wounds that are not considered life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives said the investigation is ongoing.
