Miner goalkeeper honored for UTEP Top 10

Keeper Keighton Allen is the true definition of a student-athlete. Allen has maintained a 4.0 GPA while playing Division 1 soccer throughout her time at UTEP.

Allen was honored as one of UTEP’s Top 10 due to her tremendous success in the classroom, all while starting for The Miner soccer team at the same time. Allen one of the 10 seniors in her entire graduating class.

“There were so many other people that factored in this award, the tecahers, to my parents, my coaches, my academic staff, they are the ones that motivated me,” Allen said. “All these people are investing in me and I want to prove to them I can give back.”

Allen is part of the UTEP Soccer team that boasts a team average GPA of 3.51 and an academic progress rating of 979. A Perfect score of 1,000 means every athlete part of the program is on schedule to graduate.

“My freshman year self would be in shock at me saying this, but there are opportunities outside athletics,” Allen said.

Allen is 3-1 in her career at UTEP, and plans to start for the Miners this fall.
