Jefferson track headed to state meets led by freshman

The Jefferson track team arguably has had its best year in the program to this point. The Silver Foxes are sending a school-record five athletes to the state meets in Austin.

Jefferson is competing in the 4X400 relays led by Freshman Kayla Jeffries, while Priscilla Tubbs is competing in the 300M hurdles.

“I feel like I am still able to complete well with them regardless of my age,” Jeffries said.

The relay team placed in the top 2 at regionals with a time of 3:58.22, while Tubbs also placed in the top 2 for the 300M with a time of 45.26.

“Just like all of us we all want to try our best,” Tubbs said. “That’s what I always try to do in my track career, every time we race and every time I run.”

Whether its Jeffries leading the way or Senior Tubbs, the Silver Foxes have a tremendous opportunity to put their school on the map on a large stage.

The state meets kick off in Austin, Texas May 13.
